I have to say, I'm growing somewhat fond of this prompt because it offers me a great opportunity to fangirl over other people's work ~~without being too awkward about all that~~. [ I do apologize if my reasons for my recs are less coherent and more holy shit I love this so much. ]

Rec 1: crossdressing

Why I'm recommending it: Oh gosh, so I honestly really really like uke_sama's art here—what with the characters' facial expressions that illustrate without a doubt in the viewer's mind how Dean and Gabriel are both reacting to this. The angles of the arms and specifically fucking hands, too, that actually look natural [ along with feet ] and contribute to that overall sense of motion, as well as the way the skirt flings up a bit like Dean's jumped up or away in surprise or some kind of melodramatic horror. There's something about the way his chest was drawn also that I love—everything just seems to flow together in a lovely way.

Why I'm recommending it: Does this have to be one line? [ Fuck it. ]
“You don’t you want to hear about the demon I have stationed in DC?”
Sam sighed. “Let me guess, Obama is a demon?”
“What? No, don’t be ridiculous, Moose. His head janitor is.”
“Obama’s head janitor is a demon?”
“Technically the White House’s head janitor is a demon. Obama just lives there.”
“Right. Because that distinction is so important.”
“It is, though. He’s been the head janitor there since the Nixon administration.”
“And I don’t suppose he had anything to do with how that administration ended?”
“Maybe, maybe not.”
“Why a janitor?”
“They get keys to every door and have the perfect cover for talking to quite literally anyone.”
“That’s almost smart.”
“I didn’t become the King of Hell on sex appeal alone.”
I've got the greatest weakness for witty banter in fic, and this was just a beautiful demonstration of that. The choice of scenes for the GIFset made for a great prelude to the written part, setting a kind of mood as basis for the rest of the entry. Crowley's characterization, far as I could tell, was absolutely wonderful as a whole, his word choice and demeanour being portrayed in a way that made it so easy to envision everything he did in my head. Also, the way Crowley's placed on opposite ends of the first and third GIF—his face being bookends of sorts for the black-and-white montage that comes between.

Why I'm recommending it: Can I scream? I want to fucking scream at those graphics because ugh the way everything is timed and synchronized so nicely is absolutely glorious and whoever did those graphics, you are beautiful. And the writing, too—that style makes me want to roll around in the words and revel in the way they meld together into gorgeous sentences. Castiel has no idea, not until he turns himself into a weapon of banishment and obliterates his grace in one grand showing of white light. and It’s no surprise who he calls upon waking, but predictability doesn’t curb the sharp bitterness and resentment that coils at the base of Lucifer’s spine. are probably my favourite excerpts from here; the diction is just... awesome.

Why I'm recommending it: This fic was a fantastic response to my prompt. it was funny and sweet and captures Sam and Dean's brother dynamic so well. With Dean on a date and sammy one-upping him without even meaning to, i couldn't help but laugh. By the way, it didn't actually have a title, but i thought this one was a good fit.

Rec 2: Lust

Why I'm recommending it: The story is mesmerizing. Lucifer's characterization as lost and alone is just gorgeous because you can see that there is something deeper going on. The entire story flows brilliantly from start to end, and the diologue felt realistic. Even the smutty part was downright artistic. it's 2,000+ words and the author clearly put a lot of effort into it.

Rec 3: Get Lucky

Why I'm recommending it: The song sets the mood for the video very well, and the clips chosen really tell a story of their own. I was very impressed that even though the two characters were not actually in any scenes together, you managed to make it seem like they were. And there was just the right mix of clips where the two characters weren't shown to make it visually appealing and add to the overall story.

Rec 1: It Always Ends the Same

Why I'm recommending it: It's really dark and disturbing without resorting to the "everything is Lucifer's fault" trope that I see in hospital fic. She also included the idea that Castiel would feel some guilt for helping shut the archangels in the Cage, which I think is very likely and not something a lot of people tend to think about. The back and forth of it is unsettling, as it's supposed to be, but even I want to fall for Castiel's illusions.

Why I'm recommending it: Honestly, it just made me laugh. This isn't a pairing that I'm interested in at all, but as I went through, I found myself reading along anyway and being pretty amused by how cute it was. Jimmy's mortification and Castiel's absolute deadpan were spot on, and I could hear their distinct voices in my head in a way that made it all very amusing and pleasant to read.

Why I'm recommending it: Again, I was really, really amused. The whole thing looks like a classy portrait of sorts, and the hat is added onto the character quite skillfully. He looks so thrilled to be there too, and it is such a nice hat.

Rec 4: Little Mermaid AU

Why I'm recommending it: I really like picspams that seem to flow together and this really fits that. The colouring is muted and subtle with a bluish tint throughout that not only ties the images together but really works with the theme. I also really liked the last few images because they suggest a more traditional telling of the tale rather than the Disney version, since this was supposed to be inspired by the book. Furthermore, the three images of Meg really speak to the mermaid's transformation from mermaid to human to fairy.

Rec 5: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde AU

Why I'm recommending it: I like the concept simply because of how it plays on Michael and Lucifer's personas in canon. The image is also blended really well, and the quote is lovely and definitely gives me a Lucifer vibe that makes the whole thing a little chilling in exactly the way that it should be. I also like how Lucifer is supposed to be the "bad" one, but Michael's got a bit of a smirk going on that makes you wonder.

Rec 6: Frankenstein AU

Why I'm recommending it: Again, images that flow and have been edited to seem like they belong together when they come from various sources. This is something that is really a lot harder to do than it seems, and once more, this individual pulled it off very well. It looks like caps from a movie, a subtle play of monochrome and mild desaturation pulling together images from a variety of sources to make them look cohesive.

Why I'm recommending it: Okay, as a rule, I pretty much love everything Alex writes and I cry myself to sleep sometimes because of his beautiful writing like holy hell it isn't fair sometimes. Anyways, I particularly liked this one because I really enjoyed how Alex wrote the dynamic between Naomi and Abaddon. Oh, but his imagery is what gets me because they're really strong and beautifully written - The world seemed to halt, dragging in slow motion as the reeking, sticky blood drenched her, seeping into her perfect white dress, matting her hair, slicking her skin, and seeping into her mouth. - can we not because wow, shivers right here. So beautiful. Cries.

Rec 2: The Ring AU

Why I'm recommending it: Scary! Scary scary scary! Just taking a peek at it sends shivers down my spine. I really like how Anna is really unclear and how she compliments the well~ Really reminds me of Sadako and her well. And the same goes for the looks of pure fear on Charlie and Jo! Wow, I just love this. Ugh.

Rec 3: Yellow Wallpaper

Why I'm recommending it: Progression. The yellow, how it's taking over the pictures and Anna's face in the last frame. This piece really hit me, I think, because of how different it was. Unclear, like the mind of a person descending into insanity. It was perfect. The ambiguous ending was really lovely, too - how Michael's comfort is no longer a need, how freedom is in sight... it was a lovely piece.

Rec 4: The Ring AU

Why I'm recommending it: Tears in my eyes for this. It was really painful - Lucifer, all alone, waiting, and Castiel finally found him. I really liked this because of Balthazar's characterization (and then he dies, ugh Alex why), which, in my opinion, stayed pretty damn close to the original Balthazar, snark and all, but with his caring streak for Castiel. The story, itself, made me hang onto the words because I knew what was going to happen and I didn't want it to because Balthazar is now dead. :c but no srsly it was a wonderful piece and imagery. Drooling over this. Sigh.

Rec 5: Wrath aka Lucifer really hates pagans

Why I'm recommending it: As I mentioned in the prompt, I love character analysis and I love knowing what the character's feeling and their inner thoughts and whatnot, so this is an immediate "holy shit let me love you platonically." The contrast in his thoughts on who he is (angel vs exp. in hell) vs his control, plus his reaction to Gabriel (Lucifer stares quietly for a moment, a thousand childhood memories fitting into place at the familiar voice echoing beneath the vessel’s vocal cords. He looks up, finds Gabriel very much alive, and forgets how to move. A cold, stony pit replaces the burning knots in his stomach as he realizes that his little brother set him up. Lucifer forgets how to be angry, and his heart simply breaks.) makes me want to weep because it hits me right in the feels with every right blow. But basically, it actually manages to make me sad, so I really like it. *^*

Rec 1: Hunger Games AU

Why I'm recommending it: A fantastic Hunger Games AU in which Benny and Dean team up in a snowy arena, and Cas makes them realize they should play lovers. It focuses on Benny's point of view, which is pretty interesting. I really liked the writing style, and the ending left me thirsty for more. I really hope moosely continues, this has a lot of potential.

Rec 2: The Weight of Living: Annaby Harry Potter AU

Why I'm recommending it: It's a really short drabble, but it gets the point across very well. The ending lines really make it worth it --
If the rumors were true, Ruby could easily become a double agent again. If it meant protecting Anna.
But all that would be for nothing should Anna find out Ruby had been the one to kill Cas.

Rec 3: Memento Mori

Why I'm recommending it: Benny as a serial killer is just the right amounts of creepy and perfect. Eldiablito did a really good job capturing his character, even as twisted as it was. And the sex scene was very nicely written as well.

Rec 4: A Raggle Taggle Team of Merry Murderesses

Why I'm recommending it: A Chicago-based AU where Bela ends up in prison and sticks herself into the group with Abbadon and the others, where they begin discussing what landed them in jail. Everyone's attitudes were very spot-on, and I just loved the whole feel of it. Can't wait to see more.

Rec 1: Dante's Infero

Why I'm recommending it: Well it has Dante and Sastiel in it so it's obviously already amazing. On top of that though it's just a really well made piece of art and you can tell they spent a lot of time on it (or are just so good that such talent requires little effort) The quote on it fits perfectly with the concept and it's just a completely A+ piece of work.

Rec 2: Faust

Why I'm recommending it: Okay so I'm sure you can tell by now that I /really/ like receiving art c: Anyways again it is just in general a high quality piece of art. I don't know if the artist has read both Dante and Faust but they pick out the perfect lines each time. It also gives of both a sciencey-magicey feel, which goes great with the Faust feel. Also I just really love the angry, blood covered Castiel in the corner.

Rec 3: Temperance and Lust

Why I'm recommending it:Well, it is Casifer smut and that should probably be enough of a reason to recommend it. On top of that it's incredibly written, he's a great writer and had a full storyline so it's more than just smut. He manages to keep Castiel pretty in charature even after being hit with some crazy smut curse.

Rec 4: Not Quite ASL

Why I'm recommending it:
“Okay… You have no voice, but you’re not sick… Can you give me anything more than that?”

He thought for a moment, trying to think of some way to communicate “witch”. Lifting his arms, he touched his thumbs and fingers together, forming a sort of triangle which he situated on top of his head to mimic the familiar caricature of a pointed hat.

“I don’t know what that means.”

Castiel frowned again. This was harder than he thought. He curved his fingers then, holding his hands up like claws, and offering a silent cackle. Hopefully, Lucifer had seen The Wizard of Oz.

Lucifer looked at him like he was a bit crazy.

“...Little Thursday, what the Hell are you doing?

This is super cute and funny, the tiny above quote is just not enough to describe how hilarious it is. Casifer can get pretty angsty a lot of the time so it's nice having some fluff. Plus there is Protective!Lucifer which is the best.

Rec 5: The Slow Burn

Why I'm recommending it: Despite not shipping this I just really love noir and was nice that it made me like it despite my ship pickiness. It ends with a cliffhanger so perhaps there might be more of it to come c: . Abaddon really fits into the Femme Fatale trop and Naomi looks exactly like a hard edge detective in the graphic.

Rec 6: Corruption Noir

Why I'm recommending it: Like the last one my love of Noir is what initially drew me to it. The first graphic just fits the charactures/actors of SPN with the Noir genre. The Crowley one could have been a graphic in itself before he looks exactly like a star of the silver screen lol. On top of that some of the graphics are animated so you know they put lots of effort into it!
