For yall that don’t know, mandalorian is a culture in the star wars universe. I wrote a lot of fanfic on the mandalorian wars so I kind of felt most comfortable with that language.

Oz was really quite a pleasant place once you adjusted to…well…just about everything. But having Dorothy by her side was really an immeasurable comfort for Charlie. She knew everything they could possibly need to know about this place. And while it did make Charlie feel more comfortable in the strange land, she did feel like she had been reduced to novice status, having to learn everything she thought she knew over again. So moments like this were few and far between, where Charlie could demonstrate some of her own impressive knowledge.
“You mean, you know languages that don’t even exist?” Dorothy questioned as they sat around the fire of their camp one night.
“Well, I mean, they do exist,” Charlie stressed, “it’s just that…they’re technically spoken in another universe.”
Dorothy stared at her wide-eyed, impressed, a small smile on her face. “So what are some of these languages and why in god’s name did you decide to study them?”
“Hey, when I find a universe I like, I do not hesitate to fully immerse myself. And if that means learning another language, then so be it,” Charlie retorted. “Let’s see, I know a good amount of Elvish, Klingon, and I just recently started getting into Mandalorian.”
“Mandalorian? That sounds dangerous.”
“It is…well…depending on whose side you’re on. But the language…well, it isn’t as tough as the mandalorians themselves. You have to start with the phrases first, really. They have a lot of sayings and things, like, ‘Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la’ which means ‘not gone, merely marching far away.’”
There was a pause. “You mean, kind of like what we’re doing…away from earth and all that,” Dorothy’s voice had turned solemn, almost sad, but her eyes still expressed her bright curiosity.
Charlie’s face softened as she thought on it. “Yeah, that’s a nice way of looking at it…though mandalorians usually use that phrase when someone is dead and I wouldn’t consider our situation quite that drastic…yet,” she added with a lighthearted smile.
Dorothy laughed. “No, not at all…”
“Maybe, this phrase could be a little more applicable to our lifestyle; ‘Ib'tuur jatne tuur ash'ad kyr'amur’.”
“What does that mean?”
“Today is a good day for someone else to die,” Charlie answered with a grin.
Dorothy burst into laughter. “Tell me more about these ‘mandalorians’. They sound like my kind of people.”
Charlie did so with pleasure.
