Fill, Team Balthazar/Castiel, Coming Out

Jo and Dean have been the best of friends for years. She’s told him everything, all her little secrets, her likes and her dislikes and Dean likewise shared everything with her. Now there was one thing though that Jo was hesitant to tell Dean about. And that was the fact that she was in love with Anna Milton, the smart redheaded beauty from her Math class.

Jo felt bad for having to keep this one secret from Dean and with the recent looks he’d been giving her, she knew that it wasn’t long before Dean decided to confront her. She figured that she would tell him first, Dean deserved that much so that day when Dean invited her over to his house together with some of his buddies, Castiel and Benny, Jo prepared her speech.

She procrastinated though, playing games with the boys, doing homework, having dinner. Soon the evening came to a close and Benny and Castiel left Dean’s house.

Now was her chance.

“Uh, Dean…” Jo said hefting her bag higher on her shoulder, “I need to talk with you.”

Dean raised a brow at her, “Sure, you know I’m always here to lend an ear. What’s it about this time?”

Jo smiled tightly, “You might want to take a seat first,” she said indicating to the bench out on Dean’s front porch.

“Okay,” Dean muttered as he sat, “Must be serious.”

Jo leaned against the wooden post, taking a deep breath she squeezed her eyes shut, “I’minlovewithAnnaMilton,” she gushed.

When she opened her eyes, Dean was staring at her, “I didn’t catch that.”

Jo sighed exasperated as she threw her backpack down on the bench next to Dean before she too took a seat, “I’m. In love. With Anna Milton.”

Silence wore on between them and Jo looked to Dean. His face held no expression. “Well?” she asked, prodding his leg. “Earth to Dean!”

Dean broke into laughter.

“What’s so funny!”

“Ah, damn it Jo, I thought you’d never bring up that topic,” Dean said.

This time it was Jo’s turn to stare at him in disbelief, “You…knew?” she asked, surprised.
“Yeah. In fact, Benny, Cas and I made a bet on when you’d finally come out.”

Jo whacked him hard on the arm, “Oh my god! You!” she continued hitting Dean while he just continued to laugh and weakly fend off her attacks. “Why didn’t you say something! Do you know how scared I was to tell you about it! I thought you’d start treating me differently!”

Dean sobered up now, looking to Jo, “I’m sorry,” he said giving her an apologetic smile, “I’ll never treat you differently Jo, we’re best friends. I’ll always accept you for who you are.”

“Dean…” Jo said as she smiled and hugged him close. She thanked the universe for giving her such a best friend.

“After all, love is love right?” Dean added as he hugged Jo, “Anna’s a lucky girl.”

“Yeah.”

Dean smirked as he pulled back, watching as Jo picked up her back, he called after her, “I don’t suppose you’ll be needing some tips on dating will you?”

Jo laughed, “You’re the worst at dating Dean! I’ll be able to handle it on my own!”

“Right! See you tomorrow then! And I hope you have wet dreams about your new girlfriend!” he teased watching as Jo, stuck her tongue out at him before she turned and headed down the street, a happy bounce in her step.
