Halloween’s the time when all the kids want to go out trick or treating. It’s the time where they want to dress up like scary monsters and go about running in the streets to get candy. Dean knows all this and that’s why he’s got a pirate costume ready for Daniel, their son. He’s just turned six this year and Dean thought that it would be a good idea if they – as a family – could go out trick or treating.
Everything was going fine until Daniel said that he didn’t want to be a pirate.
“Okay, so what do you want?” Dean asked, his voice patient, he knew children could sometimes be fickle in their choices. But he certainly wasn’t prepared for what came next.
“I wanna be a big scary vampire like daddy!” Daniel exclaims as he snarls and throws himself into Benny’s lap, giggling.
“Daniel!” Dean begins his voice rising in anger. Being a vampire wasn’t a scary thing. It wasn’t monstrous. But certainly their son thought so.
Benny smiles, scooping his son up into his lap, “It’s alright Dean,” he says, knowing where the hunter is coming from. He’s just trying to make sure his son doesn’t discriminate the different species of supernatural creatures. “I’ll handle this.”
Dean sits back in his chair. To think Benny would actually be so calm about it…Dean certainly hadn’t seen this coming at all.
“Daniel,” Benny begins as his son turns to look at him, “Why do you want to be a vampire?” he asks.
“Because vampires are big, scary and strong,” Daniel says cuddling into his father, then he adds, “and I wanna be as cool as you.”
Benny chuckles looking to Dean, “You can be whatever you like, y’hear?” Daniel nods vigorously, “As long as you’re happy with it. Now don’t worry about it and go get dressed,” he says setting Daniel down.
Dean watches as Daniel patters away into the room to change. He looks to Benny, “That went better than I expected…”
“What did you think I was going to go into a rage when he called vampires big and scary and linked them to me?” Benny asked.
Dean shrugged.
“He’s six Dean. He probably doesn’t even know what he’s saying,” Benny explains as he crosses over to Dean, “besides he still doesn’t know the benefits of being a vampire,” he whispers as he leans in to kiss Dean softly.
“I can name a few,” Dean chuckled as he shuddered under Benny’s touch.
“And I can say that humans are easily excited,” Benny whispers into Dean’s lips before he pulls back. “C’mon, lets get going the faster we take Daniel trick or treating the faster we can come back home.”
“Why’s that?” Dean asks as he leads Daniel, dressed in typical vamp outfit complete with the cape and rubber fangs, out the front door.
Benny grinned as he locked the apartment door, “I’ve got out own Halloween party planned out for us and you’ll get to dress up too Dean.”

And by dress up Benny really meant dress up.
