(spoilers for the book ahead) Charlie is the daughter of a wealthy farmer who has employed a farmhand named Jo. No matter what Charlie asked of her, Jo's reply was always "As you wish." Eventually Charlie realized that what Jo really meant to say was "I love you." They fall in love, but in order to be married, Jo needs to seek fortune on the sea. When word gets back to Charlie that her true love has died in the hands of the Dread Pirate Lafitte, she is promised against her wishes to marry another, but her love is not dead, and may still win her hand yet! Doesn't have to follow the whole plot, obviously, but I just love the idea of fairytale love and lots of sass to go with it.
