AU. Based on the book The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Dean takes on the role of Achilles, the callous and arrogant prince who is tender to none other than his closest friend Patroclus (Castiel). So despite their differences in personality, they grow closer together as young men and they form a very intimate bond. It would be nice to write about how they met, one of the many sparring practices that they've been in together that results in one of them finding out that the other is in love with him. When word comes that Helen of Sparta (Sam i guess unless you can fit any other character into this role) has been kidnapped and the men of Greece are called upon to lay siege to Troy in his/her name. Seduced by the promise of a glorious destiny, Dean joins their cause. And torn between love and fear for Dean, Castiel follows him into war. Preferably no character deaths. Severe injury is fine as long as the character recovers!
