Bonus Round 0 is now closed, and Bonus Round 1 is now open! Let's get creating, shall we?

This round, the theme is book-based AUs.

If you have an idea for something you'd like to see, please leave a book title, the characters involved, and any other details as a PROMPT below. Then read through everyone else's prompts, and leave a FILL for any which catch your eye. Fills can be in any media, and they need not be long, but please put a little effort in--if anyone starts spamming this post for points, we'll be able to tell.

You should place PROMPT/FILL, your current team affiliation and a brief summary in the comment title. NSFW prompts and fills should mention this in the summary or at the top of the post.

You will be awarded five points per prompt for the first five prompts you leave. The first three fills posted for each prompt will receive 15 points, the next three 10 points, and the next three 5 points. Prompts with ten or more fills will no longer receive fill points.

Bonus rounds are still rarepair only, but you can post prompts or fills for any rare ship this round, including gen/platonic ones (which should be indicated with an & as above). However, you may not fill your own prompt. We also encourage people not to fill prompts from their teammates, although the points will not be deducted if you do.

Bonus round fills can include links provided they are publicly viewable. Works can also be cross-posted to other websites, as there is no anonymity requirement in bonus rounds. However, works posted directly to comments will be limited to 16,000 characters by the Dreamwidth comment limit. Longer works should therefore be divided between multiple comments.

Remember, Team Chuck can participate in bonus rounds, and if you change teams, points earned will transfer with you until the end of the team shuffle period.

AU. Based on the book Angelfall by Susan Ee. Castiel is an angel of the apocalypse sent to destroy the modern world. Instead of carrying out a successful mission to destroy it, the angel of the apocalypse gets caught by a militant group headed by none other than Dean. Toughened by the years of battle and strife and the loss of his brother who was captured by another angel of the apocalypse, Dean captures and kills Castiel. But before he can do so, the angel had news for him, Sam isn't dead, he is in fact being held captive in the angel's base camp, which is far away from where the are right now. Not wanting any one else to get lost on this mission, he follows Castiel to the angel's base camp. Along the way, the two grow closer together.
When Balthazar, Castiel's mentor and sort of lover finds out what he is doing he comes to intervene and break the two up. Lots of angst and hurt/comfort moments. And it'd be nice to have Castiel, though being an angel of apocalypse have pure white wings and traveling around by flying and carrying Dean.

Oh goooosh, Inkheart. I absolutely loved the series. ;-; So thank you, thank you for giving some free-reign on this and prompting it.
I haven't gotten to write in a while, so I hope this is okay. It's probably not what you were expecting though. ;A; but regardless, I hope you enjoy!

Sometimes, when Lucifer closes his eyes, he can hear ringing laughter in his ears. The sound is always soft, melodious, and sweet – an innocent sound, the laugh of a child. Then the guilt would come, washing down on him like a wave, relentless and furious. He would imagine bright blue eyes, widening in surprise and maybe a touch of fear and he would remember the hand that reached out for him, the one that he tried to catch in his own grasp before it disappeared into the pages of the book.

His eyes would open then, the nightmare chased away, and he’d hear singing instead, and the scent of something undeniably sweet would fill the air.

It was almost a routine – everyday, he would wake from the same nightmare (memory, a voice would whisper in his mind), he would dress himself, and he would make his way down the winding stairs to the kitchen, where a short man with words painted over his skin would be making pancakes.

“His wings,” the words would read, “were ripped from his back, the pride of his being torn from his soul…”

The man’s name was Gabriel. He was short, lively, and sarcastic to a fault, but he was good, and somewhat respectful of the blond he lived with. It was almost painful, how different he was to the boy he had taken the place of. There were black-inked words tattooed into his skin, winding from his hands, around his scarred back (“there were wings there, once,” his mind would whisper to him, softly, yet with a cutting cruelty he would never let go of) and even a smidge on his face. His hair had specks of black in them, marring the brown that was slicked back and set in place. Gabriel liked to complain. He was loud, and he was hyperactive. He didn’t belong to the human world.

Gabriel was stuck out of place, with no way to go home. He never asked Lucifer, after that first time, if he could send him home with his magic tongue. The brunet never seemed to forget how he felt, finding himself in the strange sitting room filled with books, so many old books that were lovingly repaired, or the fire that seemed to chill him instead of warming him. He didn’t seem to forget the twin mugs, filled with steaming hot chocolate or how shell-shocked Lucifer had been the night they met, or how it was the only time he had ever seen the blond with tears in his eyes, speechless, and undeniably scared.

Lucifer never spoke a word of that night, the night when Lucifer read Gabriel out from the pages of a book, the night where Lucifer’s little brother, his only family, was torn away from him. They let the hurt linger beside them, following them like a cloud. They never said a word about what they both had lost.

Since then, they had adopted a conventional relationship. Lucifer would eat breakfast with Gabriel, and then he’d slink down into his office, lovingly fixing books like his little brother had always wanted to do. Gabriel would wash whatever dishes they used. He would go out, exploring the world in a large, think hoody and avoid the crowds stuffed with people he would never understand. The two would meet up again for lunch every now and then before returning to their separate ways until supper. Then Lucifer would cook, something salted and not sweet, and they would chat a little. Lucifer would show Gabriel the books he fixed that day. Gabriel would talk about the strange things he saw, and he would compare them to the mountains of his home, to the kingdom filled with light and tranquility. They would go to bed, in opposite parts of the quiet house, and the ritual would be repeated.

They never talked about the blue-eyed boy with dark hair whose picture hung on the wall, on a table, and on top of the fireplace. They never talked about the family left behind in the black ink of a book, of a shining kingdom filled with laughter or the winged knights who protected the skies.

And sometimes, Lucifer would read. He would read aloud the book from which Gabriel came from. His mouth would produce sounds, words that meant nothing to him but meant the world to Gabriel. The brunette would listen with rapt attention, for Lucifer’s voice held magic in it, and his tongue made beautiful sounds that he could never imagine. Gabriel would close his eyes, and he would see the sun shining on a kingdom of gold, with towers rising in the sky and his brother-in-arms at his side.

Lucifer would read flowers out of the books. He would read weapons, armour, and maybe a piece of jewelry or two, but a person never came. From the hundreds of times he read the book, Gabriel would never return to the pages of his home, and a blue-eyed boy never came out.
A year passed like this, and then another. Three years turned to five, and the monotone routine slowly started to change.

At first, it was small things. Gabriel would cook something other than pancakes, or Lucifer would spend less time in his office. They would wander outside together, a comfortable silence lingering beside them. The taller of the two started to notice just how out of place Gabriel seemed to be – how his eyes shined as he watched children play, how they darkened in anger when a bully came, and how quick he was to play a prank on said bully, his childish nature mixing with protectiveness over the innocent. For the first time, in so long, Lucifer began to feel something more than guilt and sadness. He was intrigued, curious, and he watched as his companion would saunter back with a smirk of satisfaction on his face.

“Are you always so quick to help others?” Lucifer would ask each time the shorter of the two delivered the “just desserts” that the bullies so much deserved.

“Nope!” the brunet would give a toothy grin, eyes shining as he thought of a new plan. His pranks were usually quite deadly, and harmful, but Lucifer could never bring himself to care. Sometimes, he thought he stopped caring after his little brother had been torn away from him. Sometimes, he would wonder how his world went from everything to nothing but the brunette who was always beside him.

And somewhere along the way, he started to think of Gabriel as his own little brother. He stopped reading to the brunette, maybe out of boredom after having read the words so many times or maybe out of fear of losing him. He would wander out of his office more, the old books collecting dust and left forgotten once more.

The nightmares stopped, the blue-eyed boy (Castiel, his memory supplied softly, though the name no longer brought him pain) smiling now rather than holding a fearful expression. Lucifer would pass the syrup to his surrogate brother, who would then slather his pancakes full with them, causing both fascination and disgust in the blond. Lucifer slowly learned to smile again, laughing at the cryptic quips Gabriel would make and eventually joining him in his deadly pranks to deliver justice against those who wronged others.

And maybe, pressed between the words of a book filled with winged knights, a picture of blue-eyed boy smiling happy in the arms of a freckled face, long-haired boy was enough to let Lucifer know that his little brother was okay, and that he was living his happily ever after in the black ink of a book.

Castiel going into to hell (either for Dean or Sam) following the same lines of the plot of Dante's inferno. You're choice how many levels he goes through and you can either keep the original people met in hell or change it up to be spn characters. Can be gen or you can add in a ship, I'm not picky c:

I wanted to write something, but it wasn't coming out like I wanted. I hope you don't mind this instead.

There was Inkheart, so why not Thief Lord?
I kind of want to see the angels as a group of ruffians living off the streets after being abandoned, and then stealing things to survive, with their leader Michael or Lucifer (one of the two... or both) rich, but wanting to help the others because he/they like them, and because it's sort of rebelling against the overbearing father.
Ohh, and Castiel and Balthazar would be a Prop and Bo, but I guess Dean and Sam fill the role of Prosper and Bo better... u wu anything works! Free reign!

Okay, so obviously, there's no way someone's going to write a whole AU based off all 1232-pages of Les Mis, so picking any scene or dynamic is fine. ^^ With any characters as anyone. Barricade boys at La Musain, the confrontation of Valjean and Javert, the death of Fantine - even one of Marius and Cosette's romantic rendez-vous would be fine~<3
Personally, I can see Lucifer taking Enjolras' or Valjean's role really easily, with Michael as Javert, but really, free reign. Do what you want.

Phantom of the Opera AU<33 I'd really love something with Lucifer as Erik, Castiel as Christine and Balthazar as Raoul, though I guess that might not be favourable for everyone, haha ;w; And it doesn't need to follow exactly the whole opera scene, it would be... maybe a library, a palace, or really, anywhere would be fine!

Michael's been waiting for what seems like forever, stuck in his hearth making wonderful and witty comments that no one is around to appreciate when the door swings open. Adam walks in with a wide, silly grin on his face and Michael feels his heart sink. That's the smile he wears when something good has happened. And good usually translates to a girl. He knows he has no right to be jealous, it's not like they were exclusive and he manifests into a human form in order to be able to talk better. He's just about to ask Adam who the lucky girl is when he gets a whiff of roses and sulfur and smiles. So, it's not a girl, he's just run into his brother.

Michael's only met Sam a couple of times, enough to know that he's a wizard like Adam, only he deals more with the heavier magic and is amazing at growing herbs (they move around a lot, this castle, and Adam often forgets to water the plants). He also has a fire demon named Lucifer, Michael's younger brother. It'd been weird at first, especially once he found out that they'd figured out a spell to give Lucifer a human form and that they were together. The last time the four saw each other, Sam had pressed the spell into Adam's hand and Lucifer had winked before the duo had sauntered off into the sunset.

"You've seen our respective brothers, I trust?" Michael asks and Adam turns around and flashes that beaming smile at him. Michael's a pretty powerful fire demon and even though he would much rather not be a power source for a human, the smile still makes him blush. Adam presses an enthusiastic kiss to Michael's lips before sauntering away to make a potion that the King's niece's dog or whoever needs for something, Michael isn't really paying attention.

"They were wonderful, really, and they introduced me to a man who makes enchanted sweets named Gabriel and Sam told me that he'd just gotten back from hunting with Dean and he gave me two extra vials of werewolf blood so hopefully we'll get to use that in the future don't want it to go bad now do we?" Adam's prattling on and Michael goes back to his flame form, content to listen to his wizard (and okay, so he's a little less reluctant now than he was initially) talk about their family. Adam sits down into the chair in front of the hearth with a kettle filled with water which Michael sets about heating up. He senses that there's a storm brewing outside the Kansas door and says, "Well, it's a good thing then that you got back when you did, otherwise you would have been drenched." Adam shoots a fond smile at him and says in a vaguely patronizing tone, "Some of us don't mind the rain, Michael."

Michael sniffs and turns his heat down so that it's barely hitting the kettle, "Mere humans might enjoy the rain, sure, but some of us superior beings detest such a thing." Adam chuckles, still fond, and puts another log onto Michael's hearth, "Come on now, Michael, don't be stubborn. I was only teasing." Sulkily, Michael heats up the kettle again and it whistles in a matter of minutes. Adam curls up in his chair with his tea in one hand and a book in the other. It's mostly silent except for the occasional back and forth over something Adam's reading about and has Michael ever heard of it. For Michael's part, he's content to watch the wizard relax and deliver some knowledge unto him. It's a quiet night in the castle and Michael thinks grudgingly that maybe Lucifer was onto something about humans not being such bad company after all.

Oh god, I'm really scared of The Ring, but I really love it too.
So maybe we could have either the story of Sadako or the main story, where everyone is dying because of the Ring virus?
Detective (insert character here) is on a case where several teenagers have mysteriously died simultaneously. They find an unmarked "cursed" video which contains disturbing imagery and sounds. They video ends with the warning that the watcher has only one week left to live. Detective (insert character here) requests the help of his friend, (insert character here), to save his life from the curse. They learn about the now-deceased (insert character here). So on, so forth. ^^ Free reign, choose whichever characters you like~

Lucifer as Quasimodo and Castiel as Esmeralda. Either keep with the original plot and setting or maybe update it to modern times if you'd like.

Sam and Dean are siblings that just found out that they're half-bloods! They have the same mom, Mary but different dads. Sam is a son of Hades, Dean is the son of Poseiden and everyone at camp is wary of Sam initially except for Dean, his new half-sister Meg, and her friend, the somewhat aloof son of Zeus, Castiel. Basically, you can have it be meg/dean/sam/cas, sam/dean, sam/dean/cas. No destiel please, You can also jsut have them being bros if you want and have no pairings at all.

Basically the plot of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist but with Sam as Nick and Meg as Norah. Maybe have Ruby be Tris? You can either stick to the plot of the book or go with the movie version or some amalgamation of the two would work just as long as it stays Sam/Meg.

I want Cas to take the role of Yvaine (to get that whole "fallen angel" dynamic). Tristan should be Sam. Other star dust characters you wish to include can be whatever SPN characters you see fit. I would like the scene where they first meet to be included. I know i'm not going to be specific on much else, just have fun with this one :)

Gounod and Goethe are my two favorite versions but you can take it wherever you want.Castiel as Faust and Crowley as Mephistopheles, you can sub in whatever pairing you want for the person Meph. helps Faust seduces.

Dean as the skilled, womanizing, but troubled agent James Bond. Your choice of Bond girl (or guy), as well as villain. Saving the world from a crazy, over the top scheme with an equally far fetched plan (sounds like the show, eh?) Any snippet - seduction, fight scene, about to get killed but escapes - will do.

Sam goes to visit Cas as he stays in a reclusive home in the mountains after having a mental breakdown. How close you stick to the original story is your choice.

In a world where Hitler was never born, leading to someone much worse rising to power, Gabriel and Castiel have to try and live in the 21st century ruled by Nazis.

In the puritan town of Boston in the 1600s where homosexuality is a sin, dean and benny manage to fall in love anyway. One day they are caught kissing in the forest on the outskirts of town and as punishment, each of them is forced to wear a scarlet H on his clothing to set him apart as a sinner. They’re forced to live away from the main part of town, which only brings them closer to each other. They befriend the orphan fem!castiel (who is a parallel to Pearl, aka Hester's illegitimate daughter) and take her in as their own. She is witty and wise beyond her years, and even when the church wants to take her away from dean and benny, who have become parents to her, because of their alleged negative influence on the child, she stays with them.

Sam and Dean have to go a worldwide hunt for some magical artifact to save the world from getting destroyed by Lucifer, who wants to cleanse the world of all its sin. Castiel is the expert in whatever field they need to look into that they meet along the way. Cue some tomb raiding and Sam and Castiel doing most of the mental brain work while Dean does the tomb raiding?

Dean has terminal cancer. His brother, sam, convinces him that a support group might do him some good, so he goes to a few meetings and befriends cas, who is similar to Isaac from tfios, but more awkward, and after a meeting one day, cas sets dean up with benny, who has a different illness. Something vampire-related and supernatural maybe. (But he seems healthy at first.)
dean fears he is letting his brother down by dying of something so mundane like cancer rather than dying while fighting evil. Benny helps him through the pain and fear that both of them are experiencing, and they fall in love. awww. and then the crying kicks in. just like in the book. lots of tears.

I'm thinking if you want to parallel characters to the events of the books then I'd see Dean as Jace, Jo as Clary, Anna as Simon, Cas as Alec, Balthazar as Magnus, Ruby as Isabelle... Maybe Sam as Sebastian/Johnathan. So that leaves a lot of pairings open for you to play with.

Or you could just do some story in the same universe if you're cool with some Annaby, you could do something with Anna as a Shadowhunter getting into a fight with demon Ruby that gets a little out of hand and kind of flirty. idk.

An AU based on the novel East (which is just a long version of the 'East of the Sun, West of the Moon Norwegian fairy tale) in which Charlie is our plucky heroine who travels far, far away to rescue the beautiful, cursed princess Jo from the evil ~~troll~~ demon queen (I dunno, Abaddon, Meg, Ruby? Any of the ladies would work for the queen)
