MR3 Voting

Voting on entries for Main Round 3 is now open.

You can read all of the Main Round 3 entries in the Main Round 3 Dreamwidth community. If you wish to leave feedback on any entries, feel free to do so in the comments of the entry in question.

We ask that you read as many entries as possible before voting. Please choose the entries you wish to vote for based on the quality of the entry, the portrayal of the ship involved, and the interpretation of the prompt.

Votes are cast on an individual basis, although if all members of a team vote, that team will receive a point bonus.

When voting, you are asked to list three teams. These must all be different, valid teams in the competition which submitted an entry to this round. You may not vote for your own team, and you can only vote cast one set of votes. Invalid or duplicate votes will be penalized.

When voting, put your Dreamwidth username and your own team in the subject line, and the teams you wish to vote for in the main body of the post. Please use the official team names, i.e. the names of the characters involved in the ship separated by slashes. The order you cast votes in does not matter.

An example voting post could be:

benedlund (Team Writers)
Alice/Bob
Bob/Eve
Alice/Bob/Eve

Leave your votes in the comments below; these are screened and will not be visible to other participants.

Main Round 3 votes must be cast before December 25.

Bonus Round 6

Bonus Round 5 is now closed, and Bonus Round 6 is now open!

This round, we're asking you for recommendations of works by your fellow SRSers produced in the Bonus Rounds or Main Rounds.

Recommend works using the format explained below to earn 5 points per rec. Each rec must include at least two sentences explaining why that fanwork is awesome.

Format
FILL: TEAM [YOUR SHIP]
  • Replace YOUR SHIP with the name of the team you belong to
  • Use this format (copy-and-paste this template into your comment):

(If the work you're remixing doesn't have a title, insert a very short description, e.g., "br[X] fill by [fill author] for [prompter]" or something similar.)

This Bonus Round will end on December 8.

Main Round 3

Historical AU

For this main round, we’d like to see you take your characters and put them in an historical setting.

This prompt is open to your interpretation, but if you need ideas, here are some things to consider:
  • What are the roles of your characters in this different societal context?
  • How will/did your characters meet?
  • What’s the “mood” generally associated with the era you’ve chosen, and how can you apply it to your entry?

Entries can be produced by any member of the team, or by the entire team in collaboration. Main Rounds can be in any media, but some media have restrictions.
  • Written entries must be between 1000 and 4000 words.
  • Graphical entries should be no longer than 10 images/panels.
  • Written AND graphical entries should be between 1000 and 4000 and have no more than 4 images.
  • If your text is somehow embedded in an image, you must include a transcript of the text.

The deadline for Main Round 3 is December 10th. We’re working on creating a MR3 comm, team leaders should receive invites shortly.

Remember to keep all entries anonymous until after voting is over for this round.

Bonus Round 5

Bonus Round 4 is now closed, and Bonus Round 5 is now open!

This round, the theme is costumes/roleplaying.

If you have an idea for something you'd like to see, please leave the ship, a costume/role, and any other details as a PROMPT below. After you've posted, read through everyone else's prompts, and leave a FILL for any which catch your eye. Fills can be in any media, and they need not be long, but please put a little effort in--if anyone starts spamming this post for points, we'll be able to tell.

You should place PROMPT/FILL, your current team affiliation and a brief summary in the comment title. Do not forget to change the title of the comment when posting a FILL as a reply to a PROMPT. NSFW prompts and fills should mention this in the summary or at the top of the post. Reminder that team names must be in alphabetical order (ie. Balthazar/Death, not Death/Balthazar) and that portmanteaus (ie. Lubriel, Annaby) are not allowed when identifying team affiliation.

You will be awarded five points per prompt for the first five prompts you leave. The first three fills posted for each prompt will receive 15 points, the next three 10 points, and the next three 5 points. Prompts with ten or more fills will no longer receive fill points.

Bonus rounds are still rarepair only, but you can post prompts or fills for any rare ship this round, including gen/platonic ones (which should be indicated with an & as above). Due to some unforeseen complication from last round, we have changed the rules. It is now 15 points per fill for the first three fills by three different people. So if someone does a fic for Fill 1 and a fanmix for Fill 2, then get 15 + 10 points, and then Person 2 does a fill and Person 3 does a fill, so even though those would be fills 3 and 4, they count as 15 and 15 points since they're fills by new people. You are still not permitted to fill your own prompt. We also encourage people not to fill prompts from their teammates, although the points will not be deducted if you do.

Bonus round fills can include links provided they are publicly viewable. Works can also be cross-posted to other websites, as there is no anonymity requirement in bonus rounds. However, works posted directly to comments will be limited to 16,000 characters by the Dreamwidth comment limit. Longer works should therefore be divided between multiple comments.

Remember, Team Chuck can participate in bonus rounds, and if you change teams, points earned will transfer with you until the end of the team shuffle period.

This Bonus Round closes on December 1.

Main Round Two

Song-based Entries

If music be the food of love, play on.

For this main round, we’d like to see you choose a song that your team feels represents your ship, and use it as the inspiration for your entry.

This prompt is open to your interpretation, but if you need ideas, here are some things to consider:

  • How does this music relate to your ship?
  • Does it tell their story? Is it "their" song?
  • How would your characters react if they heard the song?
  • Does the song relate to specific memory or event for your ship?
  • Is it a song that one of the members of your ship relates to the other member(s)?
The connection between your ship and the song has to be clear, either through the plot of the story or the images used. You can use any piece of music you choose as long as it is explained in the work how it relates to your ship.

If your text is somehow embedded in an image, you must include a transcript of the text.

Note: of the nature of this round, we are not allowing fanmixes, either as a whole entry or as a part of a submission for this round. We ask that teams choose one song only as the focus of their entries.

The deadline for Main Round 2 is
November 17th. We’re working on creating a MR2 comm, team leaders should receive invites shortly.

Reminder that November 17th is also the deadline for voting on Main Round One. The entries for MR1 can be found
here, and the post for casting your vote is here.

Main Round One Submissions

Entries for Main Round One need to be submitted by posting them to the Main Round One comm. All team leaders or their appointed replacements should have been invited to this comm already, and have posting rights. If they do not, they should contact the mods immediately.

Formatting for entries is detailed below. Everything within [square brackets], including the square brackets themselves, should be deleted and replaced with the specifics of your entry.

The title for the entry post must be in the following format:

[MEDIA]: [Title] ([Team])

For example:

FIC: The Woman In White (Team Chuck)

When creating the body of the post, you should navigate to the HTML tab at the top of the post editor (next to the subject line) and copy-paste the following

You can then continue editing in normal view or HTML as you prefer and the correct formatting should be produced.

The mods will be using wordcounter.net for consistency and openness in word counts. However, you can use other word count software (which may produce slightly different figures) provided your word count falls within the limits for the media you have chosen.

Please remember that any text within images should be captioned, and will count towards the total word count. The full list of required tags can be found in the Tagging Policy.

Entries must be submitted by midnight between October 20-21, 2013 in order to earn participation points for this round. Please check the countdown on the tumblr page if you are not sure how much time you have left. Late entries will be posted late, but may still be voted for and receive placement points.

Note: Only one entry per team can be submitted. If there is some problem and you need to resubmit your entry, please contact the mods to alert them to this. Teams which submit multiple entries without contacting the mods will have points deducted.
